Blogger Interview: Jessirae at Words, Pages, and books

Hey everyone,
Today's blogger interview is with Jessirae from Words, Pages, and Books!
Please welcome her :) *Claps*
I really love her blog and she is such a sweet girl! Everyone should really check out her blog!
Her reviews are so amazing and thoughtful. She writes a whole lot better than I do :)
Her links will be question 10 of the interview :)
Enjoy and please tell me your thoughts!

1. Well, to start off this interview how about you tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.
My name is Jessirae (as everyone knows already, lol). I'm a 21 year old college student at San Diego State University; majoring in Public Health. I love reading books (that's a given!), listening to music, and occasionally watching TV when there is something worth watching. I'm addicted to Arizona Green Tea and chocolate. My blog is the place where I talk everything and anything about books, especially YA books. I write reviews, announce cover reveals, do a giveaway or two from time to time and many more!

2. How did you come up with the name of your blog? Is there any backstory to it?
Words, Pages and Books is not the original title of my blog, nor was my blog ever meant for blogging about books. I opened an account on Blogger in 2008 as personal blog of mine for venting and talking about my days. Sort of like a journal. A year into that, I just stopped for no reason whatsoever. When I started reading YA books, I got familiar with the book blogging community and I decided I wanted to start my own book blog to talk about books too. My personal blog became a book blog with the title of "I Live My Life Through the Pages That I Turn." After a month of blogging, I realized that title was way too long. After hours of thinking, somehow I came up with what my blog is called now: Words, Pages and Books. It's short and straight to the point.

3. What is one of the best and one of the worst experience you have encountered with blogging?
The best experience I've encountered with blogging? Well, there are plenty! One is being able to connect with authors. Before blogging, I've never dreamed of connecting with an author. Now when I go meet them face to face at signings, they recognize my name; they recognize me. It's the best experience ever. I'm still relatively new to the book blogging world, so I can't say I've encountered any bad experiences yet. Everything has been going great!

4. What made you start your book blog?
I started my book blog for the sole purpose of being able to share my thoughts on the books I've read whether or not people read my thoughts or not. I don't have anyone close to me that share my interest in reading so when I saw the book blogging community, I thought that this was my chance to reach out to people who share my passion. I also wanted to start my blog because I had so much to say about books after reading them that I realized I should write them down. After writing my first review, I knew that I'd found something that I wanted to do.

5. What advice would you give to someone wanting to start a book blog?
I say don't be afraid to take chances! Go for it. Find inspiration in other bloggers and create your own. Start off small with a few posts on memes and reviews and don't worry about gaining followers. Do a giveaway or two if you can. When your ready, start joining in on blog tours, contact authors for interviews and such. Reach out to other bloggers for help or just to talk and connect with. Don't rush it and just go with the flow

6. What is one thing that instantly draws you into a book?
The one thing that instantly draws me into a book is the cover. I know I'm not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but it's the first thing that catches my attention. I'm more likely to open the book and read the first chapter if the cover looks awesome. Besides the cover, it's a unique blurb that will convince me to give the book a chance.

7. Say for instance that something bad happened to your favorite book. Would you rather the book be water damaged, run over by a car, colored in by a child, or pages missing of your favorite scene in the book? Explain and you must pick one :)
I'd have to choose the book to be water damaged, but all those options are horrible anyway! LOL. At least it's just water. Water dries and everything in the book should still be readable. It's also the situation in which I can handle most without freaking out too much. Although I have to admit I have OCD and love having my books in pristine condition; I'll probably buy a new copy or go insane otherwise. ;)

8. What book would you recommend to someone who is not an avid reader?
The book I always recommend to non-readers is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games is well loved by a lot of people and it's definitely in my Top favorites. I think it's the type of book almost anyone will enjoy. This year, I read Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley and that's definitely the second book I'd recommend. It's amazing!

9. When you visit a blog, what is the first thing you look at?
When I visit a blog, I always check out their reviews or book spotlights because I'm always looking for a new book to read or another to add to my list.

10. Where can people find you? (blog, twitter, facebook, goodreads, etc)

People can find me here at Words, Pages and Books but I'm always on Twitter: @xjessirae and anyone can add me on my Goodreads Page. For immediate contact, they can email me at xjessirae@gmail.com. I always check my emails and answer as soon as I can.

- Thanks Janina for having me on your blog! It's been a blast :) <3
